OUR PEOPLE
Our wines are more than just wines. They are the result of our passion.
Beside the vineyard sites, the people are the most important resource for us.
Every staff contributes to uphold the quality of your wines.

Winemaker
Leon Bester
“Growing up on a farm kept me close to the soil, plants and animals. After a few trip overseas working in different wine regions of the world I knew that my passion is in viticulture and oenology. I love my family and the outdoors. I always sees the cup half full.
My motto: What you put in you will harvest one day.”

Cellar Team
Hanlie Schönborn
“I am an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who likes to spend time with my friends and family during weekends. Love going to the movies or reading a good book when I get time. Also love to travel and meet new and interesting people as well as experiencing new places of our beautiful world!
My motto is: “Live your dream!”

Office Team
Karin du Preez
“Of all the sectors I have worked in, the agriculture and winemaking industry lies very close to my heart. Working at Napier Vineyards is an absolute pleasure and privilege. We are a small but dedicated team and we do have great wines.
I enjoy a good cup of coffee and a good red wine! Life is too short to drink the bad stuff!
My motto is: “Carpe Diem” – seize the day!”
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The welfare of all employees and a family-like work environment comes first for Napier Vineyards.
To ensure a carefree life and future is a matter of conviction for us. That is why Napier Vineyards takes over the school and education costs for the children of the employees and organizes their way to school and back.
In addition to it, Napier Vineyards built 14 new homes for the families and plan to arrange a vegetable and orchard garden.
Since 2015 Napier Vineyards is WIETA certified. It stands for Wine and Agricultural Ethical Trading Association of South Africa and is an independent auditing body. WIETA guarantees full traceability of ethical and good labour practices for workers, working and living on the farms and in the cellars.
